How to Utilize Hashtags to Get Noticed by Brands

I bet you didn’t know that hashtags weren’t just a great way to get your photos seen by others, but it’s also a great way to get your photos seen by businesses!

Over the weekend I put up a poll on my story asking my email subscribers what they would rather read about. 63% chose “How to Find Brands to Pitch to and Work With.” Because it was fairly close to 50/50 I decided to turn the other option into a blog! And if you’re reading this and aren’t signed up to my emails then idk wut u r doing! Go sign up so you don’t miss out!

So this blog is going to be all about hashtags and how you can utilize them to get noticed by brands!

About 50% of the brands I’ve worked with have actually reached out to me. Hashtags aren’t just a great way to get your photos seen by others, but it’s also a great way to get your photos seen by businesses!

"Every hashtag has its own "gallery". People sometimes browse these galleries to see photos they are interested in. Each hashtag gallery has a "Top" section and a "Recent" section. The posts in "Top" are determined by a combination of how recent the post is, and how many likes/comments it is receiving. The more hashtags you use, the more galleries your work appears in. The maximum allowed per post is 30 hashtags." ~ Display Purposes

So which hashtags should you be using? The answer my friends, is actually quite simple. I use the website DisplayPurposes.com to find all of my hashtags! It is actually THAT simple! It's completely free and you just type in your niche, whether its fashion, travel, food, cats, etc., and it gives you the best 30 hashtags to use. It displays a mix of popular hashtags (which many people browse), and less popular hashtags that you stand a chance to get a spot in "Top" for.

If you're looking to work with brands you have to put yourself in the mindset of someone looking for a content creator. What kind of tags would they look for? For my niche it would mostly be things like travel blogger, traveller, hiking, or some of the most popular hashtags in that travel genre.

It’s a great thing these are exactly the kind of hashtags this website finds for you! (This totally sounds like an ad, but it isn’t! Just a really freaking good website!) ☺️ You can also use it for popular location tags. If you’re looking to work with local brands in a specific area this might be super beneficial!

I like to switch mine up however just so I don’t have to delete them. One day I’ll do “travel” the next day I’ll do “explore” or if I’m talking about the environment I’ll do something like “sustainable” or “environment.” Feel free to get creative, but keep it simple. If that makes sense lol

I hope you found this helpful! I hope you’re having a great day and remember, you've totally got this!

Happy creating,
Chas
